Internship blog 10/2/19

Today was an especially busy day for me at flatiron, but also a little strange. At the start of the day, Jeanette gave me a stack of flyers for an event, and she told me to post them on the bulletins on each floor. This took a surprisingly long time, mainly because of how slow the elevators in the building are. However, when I got to each floor, none of them had anything I could use to clip the flyers onto the bulletin boards. After being stuck on the 5th floor for a few minutes, I went up to the tenth floor, where I was able to get some clips. I then started to work my way down from the tenth floor to the second to get everything done. The only problem is that the elevators in the building are slow, and I was having to wait for the elevator, which was time consuming and annoying. That was until I realized that I could have just been taking the stairs the entire time. I then proceeded to go back to the fourth floor worn out from all the going down the stairs.
After that, I met up with Jeannie, and I helped her put events into the student calendar, which was tedious but also pretty fun. During this time, she was also trying to get me onto the Mailchimp for Flatiron, which would allow me to help work on the newsletter. Unfortunately she got stuck on a security question, and for the time being I am not in the account. Hopefully by next week I will be able to work on that more.
Finally, I also worked for a little bit on the planning and stuff for a potential Flatiron event with the school, but I'm still just laying the groundwork for this, so we'll see how it goes. All in all it was a very productive day, and I look forward to working on the newsletter more in the future.
